[OOC] Misc. Headcanon

Misc. headcanon things I've established over the last couple years, listed out so I don't forget them. This mostly applies to Sidereal; other (more serious) games will depend on what's appropriate (and what kind of shared cast I have.)

  • Peter's parents died in the Battle of New York (2012). This means that Loki killed Peter's parents, if only by proxy.

  • Peter was still basically raised by his uncle and aunt from a very young age; the difference is that his parents stopped in sometimes to be part of his life.

  • (Ben and May never resented raising Peter, but their relationship with his parents could be strained sometimes.)

  • They were SHIELD field agents doing all kinds of stuff - this is why they had to leave Peter with his uncle and aunt.

  • Peter's dad took him to the Stark Expo; he got the tickets due to being an agent assigned to cover the event.

  • When shit went down, Peter's dad had to do his job (and Peter managed to wander off to get attacked by a Hammer bot.)

  • The Parker parents also happened to be assigned to New Mexico when the whole Thor thing went down. Peter got some amazing (and probably super illegal) pictures of the whole thing.

  • Theresa Parker (Peter's sister) exists. She was younger than Peter like in 616, but she wasn't snapped and and is now the older of the two siblings. (In Sidereal AU canon, Peter recognized her on a blip displacement Facebook group and got in contact.)

  • May and Ben used to have a house in Forest Hills, Queens, but it was destroyed in the Battle of New York.

  • Peter and his family were homeless for a couple of weeks following the invasion. His aunt and uncle didn't have much by way of savings, the house got destroyed (and insurance ruled the invasion as being a literal act of god), and Ben/May were either between jobs or couldn't go to work due to invasion cleanup.

  • During the invasion, Peter wandered away from his school and got a little too close to the action. He was scooped up by a police officer named Jefferson Davis. With the city in chaos, he couldn't get in contact with Peter's relatives, so he let Peter spend the night with his family and returned him to May and Ben in the morning.

  • This means Peter briefly met Miles Morales. Peter was eight and Miles was three.

  • The Parker family has always been pretty poor. After the invasion in particular, Peter did a ton of dumpster diving and electronic repair work to try and help support Ben and May.

  • Peter Parker went to standard public schools until high school; he started at Midtown Tech his freshman year. Money was extremely tight, however, at least until the Stark internship came into play during the summer before his sophomore year. Part of that salvage work he was seen doing in CW went to his education.

  • He's been friends with Ned for much longer, though; they grew up together despite not always ending up at the same school.

  • Peter Parker is Jewish, end of story. This mostly comes from Ben, as May is Protestant. (Mirroring 616 canon.)

  • Most of his Jewish experience is from his childhood, when he lived in Forest Hills (a traditionally Jewish area of Queens). He attended Hebrew school on weekends up until the invasion. After moving (and the brief period of homelessness), he lost some of that connection but still did a lot of things with Ben.

  • Peter was also briefly homeless when he returned to New York from the whole Thanos incident. Since he and May both blipped out, their apartment was taken over and most of their stuff was gone. Fortunately, this time all Peter had to do was give Happy a call and they were set. (Also Tony left Peter's internship on autopay and could not bring himself to turn it off in the five years that Peter was dead.)

  • Ben's suitcase is one of the few things Peter still had from his pre-blip life. Since it was old and just full of his clothing, the new residents didn't bother to throw it out.

  • And then it got blown up. :(

  • Peter has some level of PTSD from dying to Thanos. It informs his decision to try to have a normal life in FFH - and he grappled a lot with that internally. Fear of dying vs. the responsibility he has to take up.

  • Peter has the same connection to the Web of Life and Destiny as the other Spider-People.

  • Peter is immune to spicy food but cannot stand mint. (This is not a universal Spider-Person trait; his powers are just weird.)

  • Due to his healing factor, Peter has a crazy fast metabolism. He also runs a slight temperature at all times. (About ~100 degrees Fahrenheit.)

  • Peter is partially colorblind. This is due to spider powers giving him some limited infrared and UV vision, which totally screwed up his color vision. The effect is roughly equivalent to tritanopia (but not an exact 1:1 correlation; mostly it depends on what I want to do with him in any given thread.)
